There is one exception: Team members who are providing direct human energy for the propulsion of the vehicle do not have to ride on the vehicle. For example, they could walk behind the vehicle and push it.

B5a & B6d: A team member pushing a vehicle is not considered a different propulsion system than a team member pulling the vehicle. A team member who provides energy for propulsion and is not traveling on the vehicle is not considered part of the vehicle's propulsion system. Also, switching team members does not count as changing the type of energy.

B8a: After the vehicle has reached the line and stopped at a required stop, it is allowed to move in order to help display an emotion. This movement must not assist in traveling to the next stop area. That is, in displaying the emotion it cannot reposition to help move toward the next stop and must not move toward the next stop.

B8a: To count as crossing a line any part of the vehicle must cross any part of the line (crossing an imaginary extension of the line is not considered crossing the line). The vehicle may extend over part of the taped line and does not have to physically touch it. To receive score for each stop the vehicle must come to rest at any time after crossing the line and the "ooh-motional" change has been completed, before it starts traveling to the next stop.

B6b: If the vehicle is designed to increase in size it is allowed. However, it must be completely outside of the Start Area before increasing in size. The vehicle must not be designed to avoid traveling to the lines. For example, it is not allowed to project components across the lines. It must travel the course.

B8a: The vehicle may travel as far as the team wishes once it crosses the line on a required trip as long as it does not provide an advantage in reaching the next line. For example, the vehicle could cross beyond Line A and turn around as long as it does not travel beyond beyond Line A on the path to Line B. The vehicle must come to rest and change emotion before traveling to the next line.

B9a: To be considered "tangible" the sample must be observable through the sense of touch and must have both mass and observable dimension. For example, temperature itself can be felt through touch but it has no observable mass or dimension so it would not qualify.

However, the location must be depicted as being at that physical location on Earth. For example, the team may select the image of the Richat Structure and depict a portion of that image but call it any name it wishes but it cannot be presented as being in New York City.

For example, "To be or not to be" is allowed but something like "To swim or not to fish" or any other non matching terms are not allowed. The blanks may be any wording and do NOT need to be filled in with a phrase. The entire line is considered the phrase.
B8b: 在“是___还是不____"的陈述中,填空处必须使用相同的词(字)。 例如,可以使用“是生存还是不生存”, 但是类似“是游泳还是不钓鱼”的陈述是不被允许的。空白处可以填入任意字词,不一定要是短语。 整个陈述将被视为一个短语。

E7: Easy choice would be considered by most to not be the easiest choice.
"Omission of scored problem requirements carries no penalty except loss of score" is not part of E7. This Omission Clause is to be applied to any scored category that is not present ed in the performance. The loss of score is the penalty.

The blanks must have the same characters in the same order and the meaning must be the same even if they could be used as homophones. For example, "To hear or not to here" is not allowed neither would To day (daylight) or not To day (Today) be allowed. The dilemma must be a choice of "something" or not "something" with whatever the team chooses as the "something" being the same for each choice.

B9d: The team-created device must demonstrate a mathematical function at least two times. These may be one right after the other (e.g., assembly line style) or at two different times during the performance. Each time it is used it must take an input (tangible object/s) and produce an output (tangible object/s). The two uses must demonstrate the same mathematical function (e.g. 2X, X + 1, etc). Teams are advised to provide the judges with a copy of the mathematical function demonstrated by its device to ensure the device is eligible to receive score in D2a & c. It may be an original team created function but it must comply with actual mathematics.
